At today’s virtual D23 Fantastic Worlds Event, Disney provided an update on several projects at EPCOT.
Speakers included:
- Zach Riddley – The Walt Disney Imagineering Portfolio Executive of EPCOT
- Melissa Valiquette – Vice president of EPCOT
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Design Team – Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald and, from Pixar Animation, Roger Gould and Harley Jessup
With many projects affected by the COVID-19 closure, the presentation was used to provide a status update on projects still taking place.
- As previously announced at the 2019 D23 Expo, Future World will be split into three neighborhoods: World Discovery, World Celebration, World Nature.
- The return of the classic EPCOT Center fountain and it’s pylons should be complete by the end of the year.
- The entrance fountain and Spaceship Earth will receive new lighting packages.
- Push/Pull testing has begun at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- The fountains for Harmonious will be on World Showcase Lagoon during the day as part of a daytime feature on the lagoon. Disney is also referring to the show now as Harmonious as opposed to HarmonioUS as it was originally announced.
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is set to debut in 2021.
- Space 220 is set to open soon.
- Journey of Water is still in development.
