    Since opening in 1971, Disney has updated The Hall of Presidents when a new President is elected.

    Historically, the attraction has closed on or around election day or inauguration day for the update. Following the election of Barack Obama in 2008, the attraction re-opened in July of 2009. Following the election of Donald Trump in 2016, the attraction re-opened in December of 2017.

    Disney has stated they will update the attraction with a new animatronic for Joe Biden. The attraction closed on January 20, 2021 (Inauguration day) with the last day of operation for the previous version being January 19, 2021.

    Additional changes to the attraction are rumored, including a role for The Muppets.

    RUMOR TIMELINE

    January 20, 2021: The Hall of Presidents closed for refurbishment on the same day that Joe Biden took the Oath of Office as the 46th President of the United States. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Disney confirmed to them that Biden will be added as part of this refurbishment.

    January 14, 2021: WDWMagic.com user TheVisionarySoul is reporting that Disney will be adding The Muppets to The Hall of Presidents.

    November 7, 2020: Multiple news outlets have declared Joe Biden the winner of the Presidential election.
