Space 220 Restaurant Coming to World Discovery

    A new space themed restaurant called “Space 220” will be built adjacent to Mission: SPACE on the Test Track side. The restaurant will be themed so that it feels 220 miles above the surface of the Earth with viewing windows looking down on the Earth below.

    Concept art shows large viewing windows that look out into space. The restaurant is expected to be opened in mid/late 2019.

    The restaurant will be operated by the Patina Group. The Patina Group currently operates Tutto Italia and Via Napoli at Epcot and Morimoto Asia and Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante at Disney Springs.

    Seating is expected to be as follows:

    • 16 seats at the bar
    • 104 seats in “Upper Tier West”
    • 84 seats in “Upper Tier East”
    • 188 seats in “Lower Tier”

    Additional details are as follows:

    • Entrance will be near the former paper Fastpass distribution area of Mission: SPACE
    • Guests will enter the restaurant through one of two “Transportation Chambers” that will take them into space.
    • The menu features internationally-inspired cuisine, more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer.

    November 5, 2019: BlogMickey.com is reporting that a job posting on the Patina group website is calling for a new Executive Chef for Space 220. The original Executive Chef, Theo Schoenegger will be leaving for a position at Wynn Las Vegas.

    October 25, 2019: WDWMagic.com user MansionButler84 is reporting that Space 220 isn’t expected to open until Spring 2020.

    August 25, 2019: During the Parks and Resorts presentation at the 2019 D23 Expo, Bob Chapek confirmed the name for the Space themed restaurant coming to the Mission: SPACE Pavilion is Space 220. The restaurant will be situated 220 miles above the surface of the Earth with viewing windows looking down on the Earth below.

    June 23, 2019: On the latest episode of the Disney Dish podcast, Jim Hill and Len Testa estimate the capacity of the new space restaurant to be 350 guests with an expected soft opening window between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    May 10, 2019: The Disney Parks Blog announced that the space themed restaurant currently under construction in Epcot will open later this year. The restaurant will be operated by the Patina Group and is currently being built adjacent to Mission: SPACE.

    November 15, 2018: A job posting on Disney’s International Student website indicates a location choice of Space 220 Epcot. This may be an indication of the restaurant’s name.

    May 9, 2018: The Disney Parks Blog confirmed that the new Space themed restaurant will be in a newly developed area between Mission: SPACE and Test Track.

    The restaurant will be operated by the Patina Group, led by Nick Valenti. The Patina Group operates several other restaurants at Walt Disney World including Tutto Italia and Via Napoli in Epcot’s Italy Pavilion and Morimoto Asia and Maria & Enzo’s at Disney Springs.

    September 8, 2017: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 is reporting that the restaurant will go on the Test Track side of the Mission: SPACE pavilion and it is expected to open later in 2019.

    September 7, 2017: On Episode 135b of the Unofficial Guide’s Disney Dish Podcast, Jim Hill and Len Testa corrected their previous report on the location of the Space restaurant. Jim clarified that due to sound concerns from Test Track, the restaurant would be placed on the Wonders of Life side of Mission: SPACE. He also expected permits to be filed this fall with construction beginning in January 2018. He also anticipated an early 2019 opening.

    August 22, 2017: On Episode 134b of the Unofficial Guide’s Disney Dish podcast, Jim Hill discussed that the restaurant will be placed between Test Track and Mission: SPACE.
