New Star Tours Destination Based on Star Wars: The Last Jedi Debuts November 17

    A new destination for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue has been announced based on concepts from Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi (in theaters December 15, 2017).

    In addition, the attraction will differentiate between content from Star Wars Episodes 1-6 and Star Wars Episodes 7 and 8 (and ultimately beyond).

    Beginning on November 17th, guests will only experience characters from the recent movies, but at a later point in time guests will have the option to choose whether they want to ride the attraction with scenes from Episodes 1-6 or Episodes 7-8.

    The new sequence based on Episode 7-8 will feature a new opening sequence, the Jakku scene that debuted in 2015, a transmission (the existing BB-8 transmission or potentially an alternate) and the 2017 Crait scene.

    RUMOR TIMELINE

    November 17, 2017: Today, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue introduced new sequences inspired by the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

    Details are as follows:

    First Scene – Identification of the Rebel Spy

    A new opening sequence featuring Kylo Ren replaces the Darth Vader sequence as one of the two options for the first scene.

    Second Scene – First Destination

    This scene should be familiar to fans of the attraction as it debuted in 2015 for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In this scene guests visit Jakku.

    Third Scene – The Transmission

    Two new transmission options featuring Maz Kanata or Poe Dameron transitions guests into the second destination. These two new transmissions appear at random along with the existing BB-8 transmission.

    Fourth Scene – Second Destination

    In the final scene, guests visit Crait a planet from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The attraction ends at the planet of Batuu which is the planet where Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge takes place.

    November 14, 2017: The Disney Parks Blog shared additional concept art of the new scene but did not confirm the additional ride changes that were rumored.

    November 13, 2017: WDWNT.com is reporting that when the new scene based on Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi debuts on November 17th it will result in an additional change to the attraction.     October 18, 2017: The Disney Parks Blog posted that the new scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi will debut on November 17th.

    April 18, 2017: The Disney Parks Blog posted two teaser photos of the new Star Tours destination inspired by Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi. The teaser photos were lifted directly from the trailer for The Last Jedi and may not reflect actual footage of the new destination that will be added later this year.

    April 15, 2017: As part of the Star Wars events in Orlando this week, Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald and C-3PO actor, Anthony Daniels announced that the addition to Star Tours for Episode 8 would feature the new planet Crait, from The Last Jedi. BlogMickey.com shared a video of the announcement.

    November 19, 2016: The Disney Parks Blog announced a new destination in Star Tours: The Adventures Continue based on Star Wars Episode 8 (in theaters in 2018).
