    La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil had its final performance on December 31, 2017.

    A a new Cirque du Soleil show is in development. The new show will be original and promises to pay homage to Disney’s history of animation. President and CEO of the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, Daniel Lamarre had this to say on the new project, “We are incredibly inspired by Disney’s immense creative universe. We are convinced that bringing Disney’s magic to life on stage will touch audiences and bring them back to their childhood.”

    The show will open for previews March 20, 2020, and officially premiere April 17, 2020.

    August 25, 2019: During the Parks and Resorts presentation at the 2019 D23 Expo, Bob Chapek reported that Walt Disney Imagineering, Walt Disney Animation and Cirque du Soleil are working in collaboration on the new show. Legendary Disney animator, Eric Goldberg took the stage along with part of the Cirque du Soleil team to discuss the project. The new show will combine animation with live actors with the animation interacting with the human performers. Tickets are now on sale for the Spring 2020 opening. The show will open for previews March 20, 2020, and officially premiere April 17, 2020.

    March 13, 2018: WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 is reporting that Disney filed a permit for a refurbishment to the Cirque du Soleil theater. The permit expires on 1/30/2020.

    No opening date has been announced for the new show.

    March 3, 2017: The Disney Parks Blog confirmed that La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil will have its final performance on December 31, 2017.

    The show first debuted in 1998 and has received numerous changes over the years while retaining the La Nouba name.

    A replacement show has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be another Cirque du Soleil show.

    January 1, 2017: WDWMagic.com user walt-sent-me is reporting that Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba is likely closing this year.

    October 23, 2015: Cirque Spotlight (A Cirque du Soleil forum) user The Tracker is reporting that Cirque du Soleil La Nouba will close in late 2017.
