At the 2019 D23 Expo, Disney announced a new Mary Poppins inspired attraction would be coming to the United Kingdom Pavilion at Epcot. However, the project may be delayed or cancelled as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The information below assumes the project has not been cancelled, but the rumor is now classified as “In Development” instead of “Confirmed”.
The scope of the attraction ranges from flat ride (carousel, whip ride) to modest dark ride (Fantasyland style dark ride).
Details are minimal, but Disney has confirmed guests will be able to walk down Cherry Tree Lane past Admiral Boom’s house before entering the attraction through the door at 17 Cherry Tree Lane.
May 5, 2020: On Disney’s Quarter 2 Fiscal Year 2020 earnings call, Disney Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy stated the company’s plans to reduce capital expenditures during the Covid-19 pandemic. McCarthy stated that capital expenditures for the parks and resorts would be reduced by $900 million by way of pausing refurbishment and construction projects.
Details of specific projects that may be subject to delay or cancellation were not stated, but construction on all ongoing Walt Disney World projects was suspended shortly after the park closure in March.
It is unknown if the Mary Poppins attraction will be cancelled or delayed as a result of the reduction in capital expenditures.
January 6, 2020: On Episode 251 of the Unofficial Guide’s Disney Dish Podcast, Jim and Len mention that the Mary Poppins attraction will likely be an elaborate meet and greet for Mary and Jack, similar to the Royal Sommerhus.

September 2, 2019: On the latest episode of the Disney Dish Podcast, Jim Hill stated that the Mary Poppins attraction is still fluid and the scope of the attraction could range from an elaborate meet and greet to a modest dark ride.
August 25, 2019: During the Parks and Resorts presentation at the 2019 D23 Expo, a performance of Step in Time by a time of Chimney Sweeps accompanied by Dick Van Dyke took over the stage to announce a Mary Poppins Attraction for the United Kingdom Pavilion. Few details were given on the ride itself, but guests will be able to walk down Cherry Tree Lane past Admiral Boom’s house before entering the attraction through the door at 17 Cherry Tree Lane.

June 17, 2019: On the latest Episode of the Disney Dish Podcast, Jim Hill discussed that at one point Disney considered repurposing some of the attractions from Disney California Adventure’s Bug’s Land to be used as part of a Mary Poppins inspired area. The latest update is that due to the movie’s poor performance in the box office, any offerings may have been reduced or removed entirely.
The proposal featured a redesign of the shops in the UK Pavilion to have Cherry Tree Lane represented. Mary Poppins and Jack from Mary Poppins Returns. A small flat ride in the spirit of the final fair scene from that movie was also anticipated.
June 4, 2019: On the lastest Episode of the Disney Dish Podcast, Jim Hill mentions that the Mary Poppins attraction for the UK Pavilion has been shelved.
February 18, 2019: On Episode 206 of the Disney Dish Podcast, Jim Hill mentions that Imagineering has been told to no longer work on a Mary Poppins attraction for the UK Pavilion.

July 5, 2018: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 is reporting that the original proposal was for a different Intellectual Property (not Mary Poppins). There are currently creative issues on the attraction, but if those issues don’t escalate, the project is expected to open in early 2021.
April 27, 2018: On Episode 159 of the Disney Dish Podcast, Jim Hill suggests that a formal Mary Poppins meet and greet will be coming to the United Kingdom Pavilion.

February 7, 2018: On the Mickey Views YouTube channel, Brayden showed images and posts from the private Instagram account of an alleged Imagineer suggesting that a Mary Poppins attraction would be coming to the UK Pavilion. The post featured an image of the UK Pavilion with a line of dialogue from the original Mary Poppins:

The project is expected to take at least 5 years extending beyond 2021.

March 19, 2017: On Episode 123 of the Unofficial Guide’s Disney Dish Podcast with Jim Hill, Jim and Len discuss the possibility of a Spain Pavilion being added to World Showcase. The pavilion would include an attraction based on the upcoming animated movie Gigantic.
March 7, 2017: WDWMagic.com user TabulaRasa is reporting a rumor of a possible Loch Ness monster inspired attraction coming to Epcot’s United Kingdom Pavilion. He sought confirmation from user marni1971 who advised that there are rumors of an attraction coming to that pavilion but has not been told a specific theme. User MagicFeather later confirmed that a new attraction is being discussed for the United Kingdom but the theme has not been established.
