Rumors have existed surrounding an overhaul to Frontierland that would potentially include a major new attraction. The rumor first surfaced in 2012 and resurfaced in 2015.
The information from 2015 points to a major “water based E-ticket attraction” and potential changes to Tom Sawyer’s Island.
At this point in time we are considering this rumor dead.
October 2, 2016: WDWMagic.com user 1023 is reporting that a Frontierland project has been on and off the table at various points over the last 5 years.
August 4, 2015: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 has reported that the project has not been green lit and is likely not going to be announced until next year at the earliest.
July 19, 2015: WDWMagic.com user PhotoDave219 has indicated that if approved the Frontierland project would be over and above the $300-350 million already approved for other Magic Kingdom additions.
