    Disney’s Riviera Resort will be the 15th Disney Vacation Club Resort. It will be adjacent to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and will have access to the Disney Skyliner system currently in development.

    The resort is expected to open in December 16, 2019 with approximately 300 units spread across a variety of accommodation types. Guests are now able to make reservations for the resort.

    The resort is expected to offer views of the nighttime shows at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

    The main pool known as Riviera Pool will feature an interactive water play area known as S’il Vous Play. Another leisure pool known as Beau Soleil will be surrounded by nature for a more private feel. At Bar Riva, guests can enjoy cocktails pool side.

    A Signature restaurant, Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera will sit on the 15th floor. The decore will draw inspiration from the cliffside restaurants along the European Riviera. The restaurant will offer a character breakfast (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy) and a signature dinner.

    December 10, 2019: The Disney Parks Blog announced that it will livestream the grand opening of Disney’s Riviera Resort beginning at 9:55 AM on December 16, 2019.

    August 8, 2019: Disney has launched a new preview website for Disney’s Riviera Resort. The new Disney Vacation Club Resort is set to open on December 16, 2019 and guests can view a preview of the resort’s decor at ArtOfRiviera.com.

    July 15, 2019: The Disney Parks Blog shared additional concept art for Disney’s Riviera Resort which is set to open in December 2019.

    The concept art showcases the art design of the hotel which is modeled after early 20th century hotels found on the Mediterranean Coast.

    June 19, 2019: The Disney Parks Blog announced that reservations are now open for Topolino Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Guests can enjoy the Storybook Breakfast Dining Experience with characters or the evening dining experience.

    The prix fixe character breakfast features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck in outfits unique to the location. Breakfast offerings include:

    Breakfast begins with fresh pastries including Danish pastries, croissants, blueberry scones, or Epi bread (a rustic pull-apart baguette shaped like a wheat stalk). Entrees include dishes like quiche Gruyere with house-made pancetta, sour cream waffles, wood-fired butcher’s steak, smoked salmon, plant-based omelets, and more.

    In the evening, guests will enjoy a selection of fresh oak-grilled meats, classically-prepared seafood, handmade pastas, and decadent desserts infused with French and Italian flavors. Start off your meal with a Burrata con panna with black winter truffle and sea salt or gnocchi with duck confit and aged parmesan.

    Entrees include options such as rigatoni (with braised chicken, charred artichokes, and creme fraiche), bouillabaisse (with seared cod, mussels, turbot, clams, and saffron rouille), king salmon mi-cuit, and beef filet. If you’re looking to pair your meal with a glass of wine, you’ll also find an impressive collection of wines sourced from the Mediterranean coast.

    Desserts include the Fruits of the Forest with black currant mousse, blueberry sorbet, macerated berries, and hibiscus cake as well as the pistachio mousse with pistachio cake, lemon curd, and morello cherry.

    Breakfast will be offered daily from 7:30 – 11:00 AM (one Table Service credit) and dinner will run from 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM (two Table Service credits).     March 14, 2019: The Disney Parks Blog announced the name of a new signature restaurant that will open as part of Disney’s Riviera Resort. The restaurant, Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera draws inspiration from the cliffside restaurants along the European Riviera.

    The restaurant will be located at the top of the 15 story tower and per the blog:

    The restaurant’s visual aesthetics of modern interpretations of Italian and French textures, colors, and carvings mingled with stonework that harkens to what can be found in ancient European villages along the coastline.

    The onstage kitchen featuring a wood burning grill showcasing finely prepared meats and seafood. The culinary team will be handcrafting artisanal pastas tossed with fresh pressed olive oil. A gourmet selection of fromage from France and Italy will be featured. Decadent desserts will reflect the tastes and flavors of the Riviera.

    Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera will also have an impressive collection of wines sourced throughout the South of France and Coastal Italy. Mixologists will be shaking cocktails featuring citrus, delicious figs and vanilla tones.

    Guests can dine indoors and then step out onto the terrace for a grand view of the resort’s stunning vistas and maybe even enjoy the fireworks of the nearby nighttime spectaculars at Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

    For breakfast with a view, guests can start the morning off with an exclusive Disney character dining experience inspired by the Riviera.

    February 22, 2019: The Disney Parks Blog shared new concept art and details on Disney’s Riviera Resort.

    November 17, 2018: At the D23 Destination D Event, Bob Chapek (Chairman of Disney Parks, Events, Consumer Products) revealed a new piece of concept art for Disney’s Riviera Resort.

    July 15, 2017: At the 2017 D23 Expo, Disney officially announced the Disney Riviera Resort. It will be the 15th Disney Vacation Club Resort and be built adjacent to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Access to the Disney Skyliner system will also be available.

    The resort is expected to open in fall 2019 with approximately 300 units spread across a variety of accommodation types.

    February 18, 2017: WDWMagic.com user WDW1974 is reporting that the Caribbean Beach will be contracted and a DVC with a different theme will be constructed on the same land.

    February 16, 2017: TouringPlans.com posted a blueprint of the expanded area but since removed the photo. The photo was reposted by WDWMagic.com user Rteetz.

    February 16, 2017: The Disney Parks Blog officially confirmed the expansion to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The Centertown marketplace will see the addition of new waterfront dining and shopping areas.

    The announcement did not specify the addition of any new rooms to this resort, nor did it mention that these changes would incorporate the Disney Vacation Club, or the rumored Gondolas coming to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and surrounding areas.

    February 13, 2017: WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 has posted photos from modified permits that Disney filed with the South Florida Water Management district. The photos show changes to construction staging areas as well as modifications to bodies of water and constructions of new buildings. One particular building location is along the water next to the entrance to Hollywood Studios.

    It is unknown what this building will be, whether or not it will be a fully enclosed structure or be something that will change the guest experience in any way. Speculation is that it could be related to the construction at the Caribbean Beach Resort and would potentially be a transportation station.

    February 1, 2017: On Episode 120 of the Unofficial Guide’s Disney Disn Podcast with Jim Hill, Jim referred to the Caribbean Beach project as likely being DVC. He also mentioned that one of the new towers built as part of this project would likely offer viewing of the, “50th Anniversary version of Illuminations”. Jim referenced the Top of the World lounge at the Contemporary, but did state that the exact form of the viewing area is unknown. The view into the park would be between the Italy and American Adventure Pavilions.

    January 18, 2017: WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 is reporting that Disney has filed permits with the South Florida Water Management District for “Project 88” at the Caribbean Beach Resort. The image below was modified by danlb_2000 to show the locations of 7 new buildings being constructed as part of this project (circled in red). Other changes include:

    • A new storm water retention pond in the South East area of the resort.
    • Modifications to Cherlonia Parkway where it meets Buena Vista Drive so it no longer lines up with Backstage Lane.
    • Work is expected to begin in 2017 and be completed by 2019.

    October 3, 2016: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 is reporting that the boat connection to Epcot part of this DVC has been scrapped.

    September 9, 2016: WDWMagic.com user RadioHost posted photos of height balloon testing near the Barbados section of the Caribbean Beach resort.

    June 22, 2016: WDWMagic.com user WDW1974 is reporting that plans to convert rooms at the Caribbean Beach Resort to DVC rooms are becoming more concrete.

    December 17, 2014: WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 has reported that Disney has filed a Notice of Commencement for room refurbishments at the Caribbean Beach Resort.

    August 23, 2014: On Episode 63 of the Unofficial Guide’s Disney Dish Podcast, Len Testa and Jim Hill discuss the history of the Disney Vacation Club and the possibility/plans for a large 7 story tower to be constructed at the Caribbean Beach Resort.
