ABOUT
The Magic Kingdom is the flagship park of the Walt Disney World Resort. Opening on October 1, 1971 it opened with six themed lands and many classic attractions. Over the years it has evolved to include an additional land that has since been re-absorbed into Fantasyland as the park continues to grow its borders.
The lands of the park radiate from a central hub at the end of Main Street U.S.A. near, around and through the 189 foot tall Cinderella’s Castle.
Each individual land carries its own unique theme, yet these themes blend together with smooth transitions from land to land.
Clockwise from Main Street U.S.A. are Adventureland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. From Adventureland and Liberty Square guests can access Frontierland. Prior to the 2012 expansion dubbed “New Fantasyland” guests could enter the often renamed Mickey’s Birthdayland/Mickey’s Starland/Mickey’s Toontown Fair from Fantasyland. Now that the expansion is complete this area is considered a part of Fantasyland known as Storybook Circus.
Guests young and old can find something they enjoy at the Magic Kingdom; it is the most visited theme park in the world.
