Hurrican Irma’s Impact on Walt Disney World Operations


Hurricane Irma is a powerful category 5 hurricane that is expected to affect operations at Walt Disney World in the coming days. The Orlando International Airport is ceasing operations on Saturday September 9th at 5 PM in preparation for the storm.

Last October, Disney closed the theme parks due to Hurricane Matthew, and similar closures are possible with this storm as well.

The operational changes for Hurricane Irma will be listed below. The official list can also be found here.

  • Blizzard Beach will be closed on September 8th and 9th.
  • Night of Joy has been cancelled on September 9th
  • Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground will be closed beginning September 9th at 2 PM
  • Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party has been cancelled on September 10th
