WDWMagic.com has posted an article detailing the new procedures for Fastpass+ in the event of a ride closure. Currently, if a guest receives a Fastpass and the ride is closed for maintenance during that window, the guest will be allowed to return to the attraction later in the day. With Fastpass+, this is expected to change.
The current plan is as follows:
- In the event of an attraction closure, the original issued Fastpass+ will be expired and a new Fastpass+ option will be issued through the My Disney Experience app. This distribution will be based on time of day and availability.
- If the closure happens early in the day, guests will be given the option to return to the closed attraction, or select from up to eight alternative Fastpass+ experiences in the same park for that day. Guests would only be able to select one of the eight alternative Fastpasses.
- If the attraction closure takes place later in the day, the guest will be allowed to select any Fastpass+ experience at any park on the next day.
- If an E-ticket attraction is the one experiencing downtime, an E-ticket attraction will not be available as a replacement Fastpass. For example, if Test Track experiences down time, the replacement attraction will not be Soarin'.
