Expansion to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Confirmed

WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 is reporting that Disney has filed permits with the South Florida Water Management District for "Project 88" at the Caribbean Beach Resort. The image above (click to enlarge) was modified by danlb_2000 to show the locations of 7 new buildings being constructed as part of this project (circled in red). Other changes include:

  • A new storm water retention pond in the South East area of the resort.
  • Modifications to Cherlonia Parkway where it meets Buena Vista Drive so it no longer lines up with Backstage Lane.
  • Work is expected to begin in 2017 and be completed by 2019.

While Disney has not officially stated that this expansion is related to the Disney Vacation Club, we have been tracking that rumor here.
