Limited Time Magic was the 2013 promotional campaign across Disney Parks. Seasonal events of a day, week or a month in length took place throughout the four theme parks and Downtown Disney as an added benefit for guests. The various events were announced a few days prior to them taking place.
Magic Kingdom events during the Limited Time Magic campaign included the following:
Bling in the New Year (December 30, 2012 – January 5, 2012)
Disney is beginning the New Year at Walt Disney World Resort in Magic Kingdom Park with Tomorrowland’s first ever “Bling in the New Year” dance party. For an entire week, children of all ages can celebrate the start of 2013. You’ll be able to watch live entertainment on Rockettower Plaza Stage, dance to great music and celebrate with some of your favorite Disney characters – all dressed in their New Year’s best. And if you can’t stay up until midnight, there will be a New Year’s countdown every hour leading up to midnight. The celebration begins on December 30 and runs through January 5.
Long Lost Friends Week (January 21-27, 2013, July 15-21, 2013)
During “Long Lost Friends Week” guests could meet up with “long lost” characters like the Three Little Pigs, Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, Gepetto, Jiminy Crickett, Pinocchio, Ludwig Von Drake, Scrooge McDuck, The Big Bad Wolf, and the characters from Robin Hood. In July, the returning characters included:
- From “Robin Hood”: Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John
- From “Chicken Little”: Chicken Little and Abby Mallard
- From “Song of the South”: Brer Bear and Brer Fox
- From “Princess and the Frog”: Louis and Dr. Facilier
Super Celebration (February 1-9, 2013)
Magic Kingdom park is getting in the Super Sunday spirit with a super pre-parade held daily February 1 to February 4, 2013—and an MVP appearance on February 4! Just before the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade, Disney football “star” Goofy will hit the streets of the park for a lively pigskin celebration.
And February 1 to February 9, 2013, stop by Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe for Super Sunday menu items, including “Soup-er Bowls” of lobster bisque and tomato basil bisque for $3.69 each, or $2.40 with any entree.
True Love Week (February 11-17, 2013)
True love is in the air at Walt Disney World Resort as fairy tale princesses unite with their princes, Cinderella Castle gets a romantic nighttime makeover and “happily ever after” becomes reality. It all happens February 11 to February 17, 2013 during True Love Week, part of Limited Time Magic at Disney Parks.
During True Love Week, a tapestry of romance is woven throughout the resort — from limited- time Valentine’s merchandise and special entertainment, to romantic dinners for two and new themed photo locations offering greetings with beloved Disney sweethearts – all for a limited-time only.
The weeklong event celebrates the love of friends and family, and invites couples to rekindle the flame. Here is the lineup:
- Romantic Setting: Guests will feel the romance at every turn, as banners proclaiming True Love, heart-shaped signage and sweetheart-themed decor adorn the Magic Kingdom.
- Blushing Castle: At dusk, hues of pink, red, lavender and blue bathe Cinderella Castle with themed lighting synced to a musical melodies adding to the ambiance.
- Dinners for Two: Candlelit dinners for two with prix fixe menus at select restaurants during the most romantic week of the year. Specially-created menus at Artist Point (Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort); The Wave…of American Flavors (Disney’s Contemporary Resort); Hollywood Brown Derby (Disney’s Hollywood Studios); Yachtsman Steakhouse (Disney’s Yacht Club Resort) make an ideal setting for a romantic evening. - Valentine’s-themed Takeaways: Limited-edition pins, plushes, newly-designed apparel and Vinylmations available at select merchandise locations.
- Royal Gathering: The rare opportunity to get a photo with Disney Princes as they escort their Princesses to enchanting character greeting locations.
In Town Square Theater you may find Mickey and Minnie, Aurora with Phillip or Rapunzel and Flynn. Mary Poppins joins Bert in Fantasyland, while Prince Naveen and Princess Tiana meet guests in the Enchanted Glade in Liberty Square.

The Original Boy Band (February 25 – March 3, 2013, August 19-25, 2013)
Taking place from February 25 – March 3, 2013 and again from August 19-25, 2013, The Dapper Dans made special performances along Main Street U.S.A. The “original boy band,” will be singing a medley of hits from One Direction, Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC.
Spring Trolley Show on Main Street U.S.A. (March 3 – May 12, 2013)
The citizens of Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom park are bursting with excitement now that spring is in the air. Dressed to the nines in bright pastels and with a few new songs in their hearts, they arrive in town on a horse-drawn trolley adorned with colorful bouquets of flowers and ribbons. Put a little spring in your step and join in the celebration—another part of Limited Time Magic at Walt Disney World Resort.
Spring Fling (March 25-31, 2013)
Things get hoppin’ at Magic Kingdom* park when Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny arrive! Visit Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. for a fun photo op with the floppy-eared couple.
Be sure to watch for a special springtime procession starring Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny—as well as butterflies, other bunnies, flowers and dancing hippos—just before daily performances of the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade.
Fairies Week (April 15-21, 2013)
It’s Fairies Week at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and Tinker Bell’s coming in for a landing. And wouldn’t you know it, some fellow Disney Fairies are flying in for the occasion too! Head over to Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook, where Tink will be joined by a few friends making surprise appearances. You could meet Iridessa, Rosetta, Silvermist, Fawn, Vidia… maybe even Terence, the Pixie Dust-keeper himself.
Royal Celebration Honoring Princess Merida (May 11, 2013)
Join us for a joyous and regal celebration at Magic Kingdom park when Merida—the heroine from Disney•Pixar’s Brave—is officially christened into the Disney Princess Royal Court! As part of Limited Time Magic, all 10 Disney Princesses will be gathering together to coronate their newest member. And to commemorate the special occasion, you can purchase a limited edition Merida-inspired T-shirt, available in Youth and Toddler sizes while supplies last, and only at the Emporium inside Magic Kingdom.
Celebrate the Magic Summer Show (May 24, 2013 – August 31, 2013)
Commemorate the start of a Monstrous Summer at Walt Disney World Resort with Celebrate the Magic, a nighttime spectacular at Magic Kingdom park. Showcasing shimmering effects and awe-inspiring projections across Cinderella Castle, this kaleidoscope of classic Disney stories and characters is introducing a special segment just for the season—hit the beach with Lilo and Stitch, head “Under the Sea” with Ariel and get Goofy during a sunny homage to the fun summer days ahead.
Monstrous Summer All-Night Party (May 24-25, 2013)
On May 24, 2013 the Magic Kingdom will join Disneyland and Disney California Adventure for an All-Night Party. The park will be open for 24 consecutive hours. The park will open at 6 AM on May 24, 2013 and remain open until 6 AM on May 25, 2013.
Summer Trolley Show (June 2 – August 31, 2013)
Starting in June at Walt Disney World Resort, hop on for a magic ride down memory lane as the Citizens of Main Street U.S.A. get summer hummin’ along in style! The second you walk through the gates at Magic Kingdom park, keep your eyes peeled for a toe-tappin’, parasol-spinnin’ good time—the Citizens have got the red, white and blue spirit after all and they’re ready to pass it along to you!
Lone Ranger Boot Mug (June 21, 2013 – Unknown)
Celebrate the release of The Lone Ranger by kicking up some sizzling summer fun at Magic Kingdom park! Find your way to Frontierland and beat the heat at Pecos Bill’s, where you can buy a boot-shaped souvenir mug, “branded” with the Lone Ranger’s logo. Fill your “boot” with a frosty root beer slush, or enjoy other offerings in the spirit of Disney’s latest adventure film, including the “Masked Ranger Favorite”—a deluxe Angus cheeseburger with bacon, onion rings and all the fixin’s.
Independence Week (July 1-7, 2013)
Get set for a red, white and blue bash of patriotic proportion! In honor of America, Limited Time Magic is prepping a week-long Fourth of July celebration you won’t soon forget.
Christmas in July (July 22-28, 2013)
Deck the halls early, courtesy of some midsummer Limited Time Magic! Stop by Ye Old Christmas Shop in Magic Kingdom park, as well as Disney Days of Christmas at Downtown Disney area where you can find all-new, magical ear hat ornaments—each featuring delightful depictions of Santa Mickey and popular park attractions too. And for a treat your sweet tooth will enjoy, savor the merry flavor at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom park with a Santa Mickey Demitasse dessert. Or, pop down to Main Street, U.S.A. for holiday cupcakes from the Main Street Bakery and gingerbread sundaes at the Cone Shop.
Monstrous Eye-Scream Sundae (July 29 – August 4, 2013)
Prepare yourself for the return of a monster-sized pleasure! Courtesy of a little Limited Time Magic, you can enjoy the reappearance of the Monstrous Eye-Scream Sundae at Magic Kingdom park. Stop by The Plaza Restaurant and Plaza Ice Cream Cone to discover this chilling treat, which comes complete with 2 scoops of mint chip ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, cookie horns, a chocolate eye and sprinkles, all inside a crunchy waffle cone.
Cover Your Ears (August 5, 2013 – Unknown)
Do you see yourself as a hero? Perhaps you fancy yourself as a villain? No matter which side of the coin you fall on, continue commemorating the Year of the Ear by slipping a reversible Cover Your Ears base over your Mickey Mouse ear hat. Each side of these magical pieces of merchandise features either fearless heroes or evil villains from classic Disney entertainment.
The Dog Days of Summer (August 26 – September 2, 2013)
The “Dog Days of Summer” are coming to an end, but with a little Limited Time Magic, there’s still another chance to party during this celebration of man’s best friend! Wag your way over to Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom park, where you can dance along to the tunes of DJ K-9, right alongside popular Disney pups like Pluto, Bolt and Dug too. You may even spot Lilo’s “dog” Stitch crashing the block party while you enjoy all the fun games, tasty food and refreshing cool zones—including the watery antics of Drip the fire hydrant.
Fall Trolley Show (September 1, 2013 – November 6, 2013)
This September, you’re invited to put on your finest new Fall hat and join the young citizens of Main Street, U.S.A. for an unforgettable show! Discover the excitement right inside Magic Kingdom park, where the citizens will be ringing in the occasion with a seasonal showcase commemorating the magic blowing about in the autumn air. November 6th end date is unconfirmed.
Pirate Week (September 23-29, 2013)
Disney will be celebrating “Pirate Week” in a variety of ways.
- The Rusty Cutlass pirate band will entertain you in Caribbean Plaza at Magic Kingdom Park
- Captain Hook, Pirate Goofy and Jake from “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” will appear in the Magic Kingdom
- There will be a special pirate pre-parade ahead of daily performances of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” Parade
- If you sign up for the Pirate’s League earlier in the day, you may find yourself recruited to join Jake, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and their crew for a procession along Main Street, U.S.A.
- The Pirates League at Magic Kingdom Park will have a mini-makeovers available for adults, called Skulls and Skurry.
- While supplies last, you will receive complimentary pirate teeth to complete your look, if you take part in a transformation at The Pirates League (kids and adults).
Year of the Ear: Halloween (October 4-31, 2013)
Scare up some fashionable frights this Halloween season as you spruce up your wardrobe with a little Limited Time Magic! Throughout October, celebrate the Year of the Ear at Walt Disney World Resort with a limited edition Halloween Mickey Mouse Pumpkin Ear Hat, available while supplies last! Stop by any one of a number of shops and locations to discover yours—Emporium at Magic Kingdom park; Gateway Gifts, MouseGear and Disney Traders at Epcot; Beverly Sunset at Disney’s Hollywood Studios; Island Mercantile at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park; and Disney’s Days of Christmas as well as World of Disney Store in the Downtown Disney area.
Jack Skellington Cupcakes (October 14-20, 2013)
Enjoy the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town in an entirely new way with your very own limited edition cupcake at Walt Disney World Resort! Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and as a special Limited Time Magic offering, you’re invited to ring in the occasion at Magic Kingdom park with a frighteningly tasty treat inspired by Jack Skellington himself! So go ahead and give into your sweet tooth this Halloween season—scare up this cupcake while supplies last, only at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square!
Tour Magic Kingdom Park Castles with a Walt Disney Imagineer (October 14-18, 2013)
Discover enchanting secrets on an exclusive tour of the “Castles” at Magic Kingdom park! Set off on a grand adventure filled with fun facts from Disney Imagineers as you have the opportunity to explore Cinderella Castle Suite, scene-by-scene. From the foyer, to the parlor, to the bed chamber and beyond, see how Imagineers magically weaved modern Disney Resort amenities into a majestic fairytale experience. But that’s not all! The tour continues as you wind your way through the New Fantasyland Forest, concluding at Be Our Guest Restaurant, inside the magnificent castle of the Beast! The Happy Haunted Horseshoe (October 28 – November 1, 2013)
From 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, head to the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon—re-dressed in the guise of “The Happy Haunted Horseshoe”—and grab a snack or a Halloween-inspired goodie as an ethereal group of entertainers takes a break from pushing up daisies to delight you with their tricks and treats. This is your chance to join hostess Miss Betty Blue as she calls forth haunting harmonies from the Cadaver Dans, the piano-playing Dearly Departed Stan and everyone’s favorite morbid magician, Abner Cadaver.
Salute Veterans at Magic Kingdom Park (November 11-15, 2013)
This Veterans Day, help honor the brave heroes who have defended our country with a special Flag Retreat Ceremony each evening in Town Square, only at Magic Kingdom park! Cheer the proud sounds and patriotic music of the Main Street Philharmonic as well as the Voices of Liberty, all while saluting the special Veteran of the Day flag bearer, and the Honorary Color Guard too. It’s a truly wonderful tribute to our nation’s heroes, an event that’s bigger than a single day… but one that’s still only happening for a limited time, courtesy of Limited Time Magic—from November 11 to November 15, 2013.
Holiday Fun at the Magic Kingdom (November 15, 2013 – January 4, 2014)
Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at Magic Kingdom park, where you can enjoy the occasion with an all-new Frozen treat, courtesy of Limited Time Magic! Start the day with the young citizens of Main Street, U.S.A. as they jingle along in their Holly Jolly Trolley show—re-tuned just for the season. Then, as evening enters the scene, put on your Glow with the Show Ears during nightly performances of Wishes and Celebrate the Magic, which includes a special holiday finale and a new sequence inspired by Disney’s latest animated feature, Frozen—in theaters November 27, 2013.
Jingle Cruise Poster Giveaway (November 22, 2013 – Unknown)
Starting November 12, 2013, this classic Adventureland attraction will be decked out from boathouse to dock with a hodgepodge of holiday decor. And as part of Limited Time Magic, you can celebrate the seasonal enhancement with a complimentary “Jingle Cruise” mini poster, available while supplies last by the exit of the Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom park.
Thanksgiving Celebration (November 24 – December 1, 2013)
Celebrate the tastiest time of the year with Thanksgiving treats at Walt Disney World Resort—courtesy of Limited Time Magic! Savor the flavors in Magic Kingdom park with pumpkin delicacies at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant and Sleepy Hollow, as well as seasonal Starbucks offerings at Main Street Bakery. For Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, pumpkin cupcakes are available in many quick-service restaurants, and specialty drinks can be found in various bars. Even more goodness is waiting to be gobbled down in Epcot, like pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin muffins inside Sunshine Seasons. And finally, a safari of culinary delights awaits at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, including an all-you-care-to-enjoy feast—available for lunch and dinner on Thanksgiving Day at Tusker House.
Jolly Year of the Ear (November 29, 2013 – Unknown)

Duffy’s Secret Santa Celebration (December 9-13, 2013)
Celebrate Secret Santa Week at Magic Kingdom park, where Duffy the Disney Bear and a few of your favorite Disney friends are getting into the holiday spirit! As part of Limited Time Magic, stop by the Town Square Christmas Tree on Main Street, U.S.A. where you can receive a warm winter hug from Duffy, dressed up in his Christmas finest. Plus, when you visit other Disney friends throughout the park, they’ll each have a specially decorated keepsake card just for you—visit each Disney pal to collect them all.
Tour Magic Kingdom park with Phil Holmes (December 9-11, 18, 20, 2013)
See Magic Kingdom park from an all-new point of view as you hear stories from an opening day Cast Member who also happens to be the park’s vice president! As part of Limited Time Magic, you’re invited to register for an opportunity to join Phil Holmes, vice president of Magic Kingdom park, on a walkthrough of the original Walt Disney World theme park. For the first time ever, learn all about how the park and its many Cast Members still look to Walt Disney for inspiration to this day. It’s a stroll through the grounds that’s never before been offered to Guests, one only available for a short time. Space is extremely limited.
