Josh D’Amaro, the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products appeared on a recent installment of The Dow Report.
In the interview, D’Amaro discussed many things, including the Disney Park Pass Reservation system and other technology based items recently employed in the parks upon re-opening from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Roger Dow: I know you’ve had to quickly act and bring technology to bear, what are the things that you’ve done and how many of those things are here to stay.
Josh D’Amaro: We figured out a way to really push hard on technolgy, really accelerate some of the ideas we’ve had for a long time. So you think about thinks like reservation systems in the parks that we can manage capacity and therefore the guest experience a little better. It’s working exceptionally well for us.
Things like mobile order, Roger. So you can walk up to a restaurant, have your meal ready for you when you arrive.
Things like queue reservation systems that we’re executing in different ways. Or even how you might pay for merchandise, but without transacting with a credit card.
And this technology, it doesn’t only help us during a time of a pandemic, but I also think it actually leads to a better cast and guest experience. And so these are things that are helping us now, but I think they’re here to stay.
There was no follow up question to specify whether some or all of the technology based items would be here to stay or what form they would take.
