Test Track allows guests to design their own customized vehicle as well as ride in a “Simulation Car” along the Test Track. The ride takes guests through four different vehicle tests: Capability, Responsiveness, Efficiency and Power. During each test the guest created customized vehicles are ranked based on how they would have performed in that test. The ride culminates with a high speed trip around the Test Track.


The exterior of the attraction features the attraction logo with a futuristic vehicle design. A canopy over the queue entrance features two giant “T’s” for the name of the attraction.

Trash cans in the area feature the logo of World of Motion, the original EPCOT Center attraction that existed in this facility from the park opening in 1982 through January 2, 1996. The World of Motion logo can be found as a tribute in many other areas of the attraction. Prior to entering the building, guests get a chance to hear the vehicles speed by on the outdoor portion that circles the exterior of the building. This helps set the stage prior to entering the queue.

The story of the attraction begins in the pre-show Chevrolet Design Center. Guests design their own concept vehicles and then see how their designed vehicles measure up against others in their ride vehicle. The ride vehicle is known as a SimCar and the various designs of the custom vehicles do not effect any physical components of the ride or ride vehicle.

The custom designs are rated throughout the attraction giving each designed vehicle a rating in the following categories:

  • Capability
  • Efficiency
  • Responsiveness
  • Power

At the conclusion of the ride, an overall score is given for all of the vehicle designs in the car. These designs can also be used in the interactive areas in the attraction’s post show.

Prior to boarding, guests use their Magic Band or Ticket to tell the attraction that their design is about to board the attraction. RFID readers are at each of the loading areas and guests can scan their Magic Band or Ticket to add their custom design to the ride. This functions similarly to the Park Entrance kiosks as well as the Fastpass+ kiosks.

Once the guests have boarded the SimCar, the on ride host advises that the seatbelt check is around the corner. The vehicle turns to the left and up a short hill for the seatbelt check as the host states the other safety warnings for the attraction. After a cast member checks the seatbelts, we are officially welcomed to the attraction by our male host. He is joined by a female computer voice. Together, they guide guests through the attraction.

Female: Automated driving technology activated.

Male: Welcome to the Sim Track.

The vehicle ascends a steep hill, that was addressed in the previous version of the attraction as a 26.8% grade. Large screens line the left and right of the hill displaying a variety of futuristic graphics against a black background. At the top of the hill, two large World of Motion logos can be seen on either side of the vehicle. The vehicle travels beneath an arch that illuminates as we approach. This marks the beginning of the first test for the SimCar and our custom vehicle designs.

Male: We’ll begin with the capability test to see how your vehicle designs perform under challenging weather and surface conditions.

The vehicle descends a small hill with additional graphics lining the ride path.

Female: Monitoring road surface.

At this point, the vehicle turns to the right and another female voice notifies us that our vehicle is being connected to OnStar. Wavy blue graphics line the track as they are layered over a futuristic looking grid. The vehicle approaches a straight section of track.

Female: SimCar performance data acquired.

The vehicle accelerates past a large screen that shows rain and is directed towards another vehicle that shows water cascading over futuristic hills. The water crashes over the hills and the vehicle turns quickly to the right.

Male: Let’s see how your designs hold up now.

Female: Commencing SimCar off road and extreme weather sequence.

The wavy blue graphics line the left side of the vehicle as it accelerates towards a group of hills outlined with a blue light. A bolt of lightning crashes down and the vehicle turns sharply to the left as the mountain outlines change colors. As the vehicle slows, a large model city can be seen to left of the vehicle. The city is a nod to Walt Disney’s Progress City concept and is overlayed with futuristic graphics. A display shows how each of the vehicle designs faired in the Capability section.

Female: Capability test results displayed and verified.

The vehicle turns right under another arch into a chamber to test Efficiency.

Male: Now let’s see how your vehicles compare when it comes to their efficiency.

Graphics line the chamber as a scanner passes over the vehicle.

Female: Scanning SimCar for optimal fuel efficiency.

The vehicle passes into the next chamber where the screens on either side of the track show the wind test being done with particles passing over the vehicle. This test is reminiscent of one that was done in the Transcenter post show from the now extinct World of Motion attraction.

Female: Engaging ecoscan for aerodynamic efficiency.

The final chamber shows an outline of the SimCar with various points illuminated as the vehicle passes.

Female: Drive systems analysis, hyperspectral imaging in progress. Calculating total enviro impact.

As the vehicle exits the chambers, the results of the Effeciency test can be seen on a track side monitor.

A rumble can be heard as trees are illuminated/outlined in purple as the vehicle makes a left turn under another arch. The arch marks the beginning of the Responsiveness test.

Female: Commencing Responsiveness test.

Male: OK, responsiveness data is now being synchronized.

The track is lined with purple lights as the SimCar quickly accelerates uphill and around several tight turns.

Female: Automated driving technology verified and active.

Futuristic trees line the track, the trees are cutouts lined with purple lights. Additional signage can also be read as the vehicle continues to accelerate. The SimCar drops suddenly and travels into a tunnel. As the vehicle emerges from the tunnel it narrowly misses a large big rig that illuminates as the SimCar swirves to avoid contact.

Female: Automated crash avoidance technology, disengaged.

Following the big rig, the Responsiveness data can be seen on a track side monitor.

Female: Displaying Responsiveness data.

The SimCar turns to the right as the four tests are displayed with graphics lining the left side of the track. A series of four arches illuminate in front of the vehicle leading towards a black wall. The arches illuminate to indicate the beginning of the Power test.

Male: Here comes the final test.

Female: Energizing for Power test.

The vehicle accelerates through the arches and the Test Track Logo is displayed in front of the track. As the SimCar approaches the logo, it slides open to reveal an outdoor section of track. The vehicle descends down a short hill into a long straight section of outdoor track. It accelerates into a banked right turn, followed by a large banked left hand turn over a showcase of Chevrolet vehicles. The car levels out for the longest straight away of the attraction. It passes under a speedometer that shows the speed approaching 65 miles per hour. The SimCar circles the outside of the front of the building before the breaks are gradually applied around the corner. The vehicle descends a hill back into the building and the Power test results are displayed.

Male: This concludes your performance testing. You’ll be able to see how your Chevrolet custom concept vehicle designs compared with the SimCar after you disembark. Please watch your step as you exit and remember to take all your personal belongings with you. Be sure to check your final performance numbers in our scoring area.

The vehicle returns to the load area to end the attraction.


Test Track is a turbulent thrill ride that features a series of automotive testing environments including slippery road surfaces, rapid acceleration, sudden breaking, sharp turns, and steeply-banked curves


Thrill seekers.


This attraction opens with the park.


Test Track is one of the high demand Fastpass+ reservations in the park. Same day availability will be limited and guests will typically save at least 30-45 minutes using Fastpass+ even on low crowd days.

It is a “Tier 1” Fastpass+ attraction. Test Track, Frozen Ever After and Soarin‘ are the highest demand Fastpass+ attractions in the park.


The queue for Test Track changed significantly following the redo of the attraction in 2012. The test facility components were all removed in favor of concept car designs and graphics more in line with the current version of the attraction.

The queue leads into the pre-show area where the interactive Chevrolet Design Center component of the attraction. Following the pre-show, the queue continues to the load area where guests can see cars dispatching.


The vehicles are six passenger convertible cars with 3 seats in the front and back. They are painted with blue and black graphics and each row has a small video monitor. The vehicles are referred to as SimCars and they ride along a track like a giant slot car.


The Pre-Show for Test Track, is a series of interactive screens called the Chevrolet Design Center. In this area, guests choose from a variety of options to design their own custom concept vehicle. Depending on crowds, standby guests, single rider guests and Fastpass+ guests will have varying amounts of time to utilize these design kiosks.

The process begins with guests outlining the initial shape of their vehicle. After that, the shape is normalized and additional features can be added and modified. These include adjusting the shape, length and width of the vehicle.

Once the general look of the car has been determined, guests can select the engine type they want from options that include, g “Solar Drive, EV Hybrid, and Plasma Burner, aand others.”

Following the engine selection, guests can select the face of the car, the color, graphics, wheel size, and style.

The vehicle’s details are embedded on your Magic Band/Ticket and will be used on the attraction to be tested against the other designs created by your fellow riders. The vehicle will be tested in the below categories, and your score in each of these categories is displayed throughout the design process:

  • Capability
  • Efficiency
  • Responsiveness
  • Power




The previous version of this attraction opened in December 1998 and closed in April 2012. This version took guests through the various tests that a General Motors vehicle would undergo at a standard facility.

Prior to the original Test Track attraction debuting in 1998 the motion pavilion was home to World of Motion, a slow moving, light hearted attraction through the history of transportation. World of Motion opened with EPCOT Center on October 1, 1982 and closed on January 2, 1996.


Elements of the attraction are similar to the various roller coasters on property but there are no other rides that utilize the same ride system in Walt Disney World. The interior of the attraction is comparable to Tron Lightcycle Run. Additional components are similar to DINOSAUR, without the rough terrain.

Many of the Epcot post-show experiences offer similar interactive games/exhibits. These include the following:
