At a press event for Disney's Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary, Disney discussed Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway in a discussion led by Imagineers Kevin Rafferty and Charita Carter.
- Imagineering Show Writer and Creative Director: Kevin Rafferty
- Imagineering Producer: Charita Carter
Laughing Place posted a YouTube video of the entire presentation. As part of the attraction, they introduced the attraction marquee that will utilize neon animation. The attraction backstory has guests attending the premier of a new Mickey Mouse short called "Perfect Picnic" before guests enter the short itself.
The theme song and attraction score is written by Chris Willis and all of the sound effects are created using traditional techniques. Many of these techniques were created by Jimmy MacDonald a previous voice of Mickey Mouse from 1947-1977. Additionally, one of the original whistles used on Steamboat Willie will also be used as a sound effect for the railway locomotive in the attraction.
