The Disney Parks Blog gave additional details on the updates coming to the Jungle Cruise. The new storyline will feature Alberta Falls, the granddaughter of world-renowned Dr. Albert Falls. The blog post featured a “long lost” 1938 newspaper article from The Daily Gnus that features an interview with Alberta Falls. In it she identifies herself as owner, manager, bookkeeper, and head mechanic of the Jungle Navigation Company.
AttractionsMagazine.com also had an exclusive interview with Disney Imagineers Susana Tubert and Kevin Lively about the updates coming to the attraction. Another new character Felix Penchman XIII will be represented by an audio animatronic in the attraction.
Penchman’s name means “bad luck man” in several languages and he was one of Alberta Falls original skippers that we will encounter along our travels.
Other characters include:
- Dr. Leonard Moss, Acclaimed Canadian Botanist
- Rosa Soto Dominguez, Celebrated Mexican Artist
- Dr. Kon Chunosuke, S.E.A. Member and Japan’s Preeminent Entomologist
- Siobhan “Puffin” Murphy
Additionally, while the Imagineers would not explicitly comment on the removal of the Trader Sam figure in either the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland, they did state that there were no plans on changing the bars of the same name.
