A pay for play Fastpass service was introduced to guests staying at club level, but a larger scale pay for play Fastpass option is expected to debut as early as late 2019.
June 3, 2019: WDWMagic.com user HoustonHorn was the first to report a change in tiers at Disney's Hollywood Studios. All rides will be moved to Tier 1 (Choose 1) and all shows will be moved to Tier 2 (Choose 2). The exceptions to this are Star Tours and Fantasmic! whose tiers were not available.
March 12, 2019: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 gave details on possible scenarios for the anticipate changes:
- Free Fastpass will still be available, but it may not be limited to "Tier 1" attractions.
- Marquee attractions may show us unavailable for free, but may become available for an upcharge.
- There may be at least 3 different packages for paid Fastpass
- This may happen later this year and may debut on a smaller scale with new attractions.
March 10, 2019: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 is reporting that Disney will introduce some sort of pay for play Fastpass service for guests later this year.
January 9, 2018: Chip Skambis has reported on Twitter that Disney will introduce it's pay for use Fastpass+ on Friday January 12th.
January 9, 2018: Chip Skambis, (Twitter @chickenlilchip) The Assignment Desk editor for WFTV (Orlando's ABC affiliate) is reporting Disney is looking at a pay for use Fastpass+ option for Club level resort guests.
According to the post on Twitter, the three additional fastpasses will cost $50 a day and can be used at any park. The service will require a 3 day minimum and will only be available to club-level resort guests, sources say. Disney officials did not immediately return a request for comment.
