In an effort to improve security, Disney is looking to move security away from the Magic Kingdom entrance and to the Ticket and Transportation Center for many guests. Details are unconfirmed, and it is unknown if security checkpoints will also be added to the resorts that connect to the Magic Kingdom via monorail and water transportation.
March 4, 2017: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 is reporting that a new permanent security area will go between the ferry dock and the berm around the Magic Kingdom for access from the bus lanes.
October 31, 2016: WDWMagic.com user roj2323 is reporting that the securit enhancements would include the following:
- Prescreening at TTC for both the ferry boats and monorails.
- Prescreening at the resorts for Monorail and Boat transportation.
- Bus guests would be screened at MK before passing under the monorail lines.
October 3, 2016: WDWMagic.com user 1023 is reporting that this project is part of a larger scale change for transportation and security at the Walt Disney World resort.
September 27, 2016: WDWMagic.com user Dasnowz is reporting that the Ticket and Transportation Center is being renovated to move security for the Magic Kingdom to this location.
