A new track for Toy Story Midway Mania opened on May 23, 2016. Disney originally announced that this would open in Soundstage 1 on May 27, 2016. The addition adds 50% more capacity to the attraction.
May 27, 2016: The third track to Toy Story Midway Mania officially debuted.
May 23, 2016: The third track for Toy Story Midway Mania opened to the public a few days earlier than originally announced. Guests being sent to the third track will go left at the Fastpass+/Standby merge point.
Mr. Potato Head has not been added back to the queue but it is expected to return when Toy Story Land opens.
April 20, 2016: The Disney Parks Blog confirmed that beginnig Memorial Day Weekend, the third track for Toy Story Mania will be open.
January 13, 2016: WDWMagic.com user FerretAfros posted photos of the new Toy Story Mania ride vehicles that were visible in the former Studio Backlot Tour costuming shop during Marathon Weekend.
November 21, 2015: WDWMagic.com user Sped2424 is reporting that Mr. Potato Head has been removed from the Toy Story Mania queue and a mural has taken it's place. This is related to the addition of the third track and reconfiguration of the queue.
September 18, 2015: WDWMagic.com is reporting that the third track for Toy Story Mania may open sooner than expected, potentially before the end of the year.
August 11, 2015: TheDibb.co.uk tracks Fastpass+ availability. They are reporting that there is no availability for Toy Story Midway Mania after October 15, 2015. It's possible this is a glitch on the system or an insight into down time related to the third track.
July 14, 2015: WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 has reported that Disney has filed a Notice of Commencement for audio visual improvements in Soundstage 1. This is related to the Toy Story Midway Mania track expansion.
March 5, 2015: The Disney Parks Blog confirmed that a third track will be added to Toy Story Midway Mania by the end of 2016.
February 20, 2015: WDWMagic.com user cjk0318 has posted photos that walls are up around Soundstage 1 at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This is likely related to exterior work on the third track for Toy Story Midway Mania.
October 31, 2014: WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 has reported that Disney filed an updated Notice of Commencement for the Toy Story Mania 3rd track addition. The updated includes individual contractors that will be involved with the project.
October 6, 2014: Multiple websites have reported that Toy Story Mania will be operating as a Fastpass+ only attraction through Friday October 10th. This test supports the idea that the original two tracks will be used for Fastpass+ and the new track will be used for Standby.
October 5, 2014: WDWMagic.com user marni1971 has reported that the third track for Toy Story Mania is 100% confirmed.
October 4, 2014: OrlandoParksNews.com has reported that work will begin in Soundstage One beginning October 5th. Only authorized personnel will be allowed inside.

September 26, 2014: On Episode 66 of the Unofficial Guide's Disney Dish Podcast with Jim Hill, Jim Hill states that he does not believer Toy Story Mania is getting a 3rd track. This was along with several other rumors associated with Disney's Hollywood Studios.
September 25, 2014: WDWMagic.com user TheVisionarySoul has said that the permit is for a 3rd Toy Story track with the existing track being converted exclusively to Fastpass+. Standby would primarily use the 3rd track inside Soundstage 1.
September 25, 2014: WDWMagic.com user Lee has reported that fellow WDWMagic.com user marni91 has spotted Tom Fitzgerald, John Lasseter, Meg Crofton, George Kalogridis and others at Soundstage 1 today. This level of executive presence is unlikely for a track extension. We are considering this rumor dead until new news surfaces.
September 24, 2014: WDWMagic.com user danlb_2000 has reported that Disney has filed a Notice of Commencement for "Project 3 - Soundstage 1 Renovation". While details are sparse, Soundstage 1 is the destination rumored to be home to the 3rd track for Toy Story Mania. The contractor is Whiting Turner who was involved in the initial construction of Toy Story Mania.
September 7, 2014: WDWMagic.com user JimboJones123 has reported that the Wandering Oaken Trading Post will be relocated from Stage 1 to the former AFI Showcase/Shop location at the end of the Studio Backlot Tour. The Ice Rink would not be relocated, but the merchandise, snowman building, and snack location would be relocated. The given time frame was October 1st, and it was also speculated to help facilitate construction of a third track for Toy Story Midway Mania! This portion of the rumor is not confirmed.
August 25, 2014: WDWMagic.com user PKD has reported that the 3rd track for Toy Story Mania has been approved. We are still considering this a Blue Sky rumor until verified by additional sources.
August 14, 2014: WDWMagic.com has reported that the American Film Institute Showcase Shop will have it's last day of operation on August 17th.
July 8, 2014: DisneyAtWork.com has reported that Disney is considering using Soundstage 1 (to the left of Toy Story Mania) to build a 3rd track for Toy Story Mania. Like the Soarin' rumor, the need to increase capacity at marquee attractions has been a concern. While the reports from DisneyAtWork.com are unconfirmed and should be considered "Blue Sky", WDWMagic.com user Alektronic has confirmed that management has been concerned with capacity at marquee attractions.
