About

One of Walt Disney World's original resorts, Disney's Contemporary Resort is located on Bay Lake and is adjacent to Magic Kingdom. Disney's Contemporary Resort is categorized as a Deluxe Resort and has a total of 655 rooms and suites.

The resort's main building is known for its "A-frame design", as well as the monorail which runs right through the building on its way to and from the Magic Kingdom park. This main building is called "The Contemporary Tower". This area is where you can find the Grand Canyon Concourse, which is the main hall where you can find various shops and restaurants (such as Chef Mickey's), as well as the monorail station that services the resort. The outer walls of the tower area (main building) hold 383 guest rooms. The California Grill is located on the 15th floor (top) of the Contemporary Tower building.

The "South Garden" is a three story building that is detached from the Contemporary Tower. The South Garden building holds an additional 250 guest rooms. Some of the rooms in the South Garden building offer views of the Magic Kingdom park, while others offer a view of Bay Lake.

The resort has two pools, which are both on the shore of Bay Lake. The feature pool has a 17 foot high curved water slide and has two whirlpool spas. The second, Bay Pool, is a quiet pool where guests of all ages are invited to relax is the pool and cool down. Private cabanas are available for rent.

Disney's Contemporary Resort is also connected to Bay Lake Tower. Bay Lake Tower information can be seen at our Bay Lake Tower page. The resort also has a convention center with 90,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 44,300 square foot grand ballroom.

You can walk to the Magic Kingdom park via a designated walkway, you can take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom park or to the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC), you can take the Disney Transportation bus, or you can take the ferry.
